Part 2

Foundations of Sociology

Part Goals & Alignment

This module provides the theoretical and conceptual foundation for the study of society:

1. Sociological Literacy
Students will master the "Sociological Imagination," learning to see the intersection of personal biography and social history. We will explore the major theoretical paradigms and the fundamental concepts that define the discipline.

2. CLEP Exam Preparation
The content, readings, and vocabulary in this module are rigorously aligned with the College Board's Introductory Sociology CLEP exam. Mastering these activities prepares students to sit for the exam and potentially earn 3 college credit hours and 150 Strength-of-Diploma points, thus strengthening their high school diploma and contributing to the Louisiana SPS index (Bulletin 111 § 709).
